Voru is one of the oldest villages in the Fann Mountains, reached on foot from Ghazza Village along the river valley. It's a working village rather than a destination, and the visit has the feel of being genuinely invited in rather than processed through.

The blacksmith
The blacksmith makes knives and horseshoes by hand, and his handshake is the first thing you notice; it would leave an impression in an iron bar. The second handshake, later in the visit, was noticeably more measured. The working interpretation is that something had been established in between. The workshop is worth time: the craft is serious and the objects he produces are things people here actually use.
Tea with Hezbollah, the French teacher
A sit-down with the village French teacher, whose name is Hezbollah, which requires a moment of adjustment if you arrive without context. The tea is the occasion; the conversation is the point. A French teacher in a mountain village in Tajikistan is its own kind of story, and he seemed aware of that.
